Kayak to the La Jolla Sea Caves and explore the La Jolla Ecological Reserve!
Kayak along the La Jolla Sea Caves and jump in to snorkel around the La Jolla Ecological Reserve! Swim alongside the Garibaldi, harmless leopard sharks, sea lions, sea turtles, and lush kelp forests. This is the ultimate way to fully experience Southern California’s jewel coast and priceless views. Our experienced tour guides will share fun facts and history about La Jolla, point out hidden marine treasures, and safely guide you and your kayak through the sea cave.
This adventure is suitable for kayakers ages 6+ (with adult) and must be a comfortable swimmer.
Departs everyday 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM (weather permitting)
Ages 6+ for tandem kayak (with adult), 15+ for single kayak. Must be comfortable in the water.
Weight restrictions 450 lbs maximum for tandem kayaks
Total duration 2+ hours give or take for the whole experience
What to expect on your Kayak and Snorkel Tour:
Your Kayak and Snorkel tour will start off at the La Jolla Kayak shop where you will check in with our front desk staff. You’ll get fitted with your helmet, a personal floatation device, and snorkel gear. You will then be introduced to your tour guide and walk to the boat launch area together (1-2 blocks). Our beach staff will greet you and match you with your paddle. Your tour guide will do a 10-15-minute paddle instruction to prepare you for maneuvering in the ocean.
Entrance into the sea cave is dependent on weather and ocean conditions.
Please wear comfortable kayak and snorkel gear, like a bathing suit. Wetsuits are provided for kayak and snorkel tours.
Shoes are not required for the tour but please wear sandals or water shoes to walk to the beach.
Don’t forget your sunscreen!
